Monday GOOD NEWS!

August 30th, 2010

How do you view Monday morning? Are you excited for a new work week or school week for the kiddos? Or do you dread the sunrise like the first sniffles of an incoming cold?

I’m somewhere in the middle.

Lunches to be made, schedules to keep – yet, I love starting out writing with a hot cup of joe. Today, however, I LOVED Monday morning. My editor sent me this… a starred review from Publisher’s Weekly!

***Just when it seems every possible vampire twist has been turned, Wright launches a powerful series with a rich mythology, page-turning tension, and blistering sensuality. Wealthy, reclusive brothers Alexander, Nicholas, and Lucian Roman long ago rebelled against the restrictive Eternal Order of vampires. When a superpowerful part-vampire Impure starts attacking purebloods, the order forces Alexander to undergo a dangerous physical transformation. As a side effect, he develops a fierce craving for his as yet unidentified true mate. To Alexander’s dismay, he forms a bond with human psychiatrist Sara Donohue, who saves him during a vulnerable moment. Wright pulls off the tricky task of creating enough of a resolution to satisfy readers while sustaining tension for the sequel. The connection between Sara and Alexander resonates on many levels, and readers will look forward to following them and other intriguing characters through succeeding books.***

Squeeee.. Yes, today is a happy, happy Monday!

Hope yours is happy too:-)

Manga! And I don’t mean, ‘Eat!’

August 17th, 2010

Harlequin has launched a Manga line; the perfect marriage of Japanese-style manga comics and Harlequin’s world-renowned romances. It ROCKS! And I just got my first one in the mail today. What a thrill!! The books is one of my Desire’s, THE SULTAN’S BED. And what fun to see the story drawn.
I really wish I could read Japanese!

Writing the Dark Synopsis

August 14th, 2010

So… I’m in the process of writing the synopsis for ETERNAL CAPTIVE (3rd book in the Mark of the Vampire series) – which in itself is a difficult thing. But as it usually goes down in my mind, things are getting dark very quickly. And I’m talking, VERY DARK. It makes me wonder, how far can I go here? Can my hero contemplate killing my heroine? If it’s motivated well? I’m going to go with a ‘yes’ on that because it’s what I love reading..the darker the better. But that also makes me wonder, why? What’s up with me that I love books and writing characters who have such deep emotional pain… Is it that I want to see how far one can fall and still be able to get up again, or be helped up by the one they fell in love with?
Why is that titillating?

Galley for ETERNAL HUNGER up for grabs!

July 21st, 2010

Hey All!

So…I have just finished the manuscript for ETERNAL KISS, Book 2 in the series, and sent the baby off! Now I need to celebrate!!
To clarify, the things I have already done to celebrate are:
-drank white wine
-drank red wine
-drank purple wine (which may have been an older version of the red wine)
-have gone to see Toy Story 3 (in 3D) with my kids, and nearly succumbed to movie theater sickness.
-have taken down 3 different kinds of cheesecake at the Cheesecake Factory.
And that’s only for today!

Now – It’s your turn. If you’d like to win a galley copy of ETERNAL HUNGER, just tell me … What do you like to do to celebrate an accomplishment?

I’m going to pick a winner at random. You have until Thursday night at 9pm (pst)

Good luck!

THIS IS MY BRAIN. THIS IS MY BRAIN ON WRITING

July 15th, 2010

I am just days away from sending in the manuscript for ETERNAL KISS. I’m excited and exhausted and overwhelmed and … well, up at 5:55 every morning until around 9 every night, so that makes for a pretty nutty writer. (see photo of Jack, that’s how I feel inside) Eating, sleeping and breathing Nicholas and his emotions.
My nerves are a bit shot.
It happens to me every book. I get so deeply ingrained in my characters emotions and struggle and pain that I can’t crawl out of it – much to the chagrin of my family. Poor lot:-)
Hope everyone has a lovely, emotion and Jack free Thursday!

TEAM JACOB? TEAM EDWARD? OR TEAM ALEXANDER?

June 30th, 2010

HA! I knew that would get you:-)

So?
Have you seen it?
Eclipse is out today, and although I didn’t love the first two films – loved the books though – I’m kinda dying to see it.
If you have, I’d love to hear your reviews!

WIN THE FIRST GALLEY OF ETERNAL HUNGER!

June 24th, 2010

I’m thrilled to be able to share a first look at my October release, the first book in the Mark of the Vampire series, ETERNAL HUNGER. The galleys are so beautiful – with the cover and everything, and I have one to give away.
I can sign it to you, or a friend – or just sign it. But first, bwha ha ha – a little test of your romance knowledge. First one to answer all of the questions below correctly by using either character, book or film, gets the galley.
You have until tomorrow night at 10 p.m. pst. Good luck!

1. “Look after my heart. I’ve left it with you.”

2. “The greatest thing in the world is to be in love and be loved in return.”

3. “I will find you,” he whispered in my ear. “I promise. If I must endure two hundred years of purgatory, two hundred years without you – then that is my punishment, which I have earned for my crimes.”

4. “It was real, wasn’t it? You and me. Such a long time ago, we were just a couple of kids. But we really loved each other, didn’t we?”

5. “It darted through her with the speed of an arrow that Mr. Knightley must marry no one but herself!”

6. “No, everybody loves their mother. Even people who hate their mothers love their mothers. The question is, one man meant for one woman. That is the question.”

7. “I’ll not force you,” he said quietly, “nor will I force you to do anything you don’t want to do once you’re in my arms. Think carefully about that,” he warned, “because if you come to me now, you won’t be able to tell yourself in the morning that I made you do this against your will – or that you didn’t know what was going to happen. Yesterday, neither of us knew what was going to happen. Now we do.”
